Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Inclusion
Special educational needs, also known as special educational needs and disabilities in the United Kingdom refers to the education of children who require different education provision to the mainstream system.
At Woodlands, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school.
We have high aspirations for all our pupils, including those with SEND. We work closely with our feeder schools to ensure a smooth transition from Year 6 to 7 and also collaborate with post-16 providers to support transition into further education.
Pupils who have identified SEND will be supported through a variety of ways dependent on the level of need they present with. Class teachers monitor pupils through out the year and liaise closely with the SENDCos to ensure that any previously unidentified needs may be acknowledged and supported. At Woodlands, we ensure that we always strive to meet a pupil’s presenting need whether they have a diagnosis or not. We work closely with parents and outside agencies to ensure that we are providing support that will be enable pupils to make good progress from their starting points.
If you have any concerns about your child or would like to discuss anything further please contact the relevant key stage SENDCo:
